Rick J. Delanty is a Californian by birth and in spirit, finding in this state a love for nature and wonder of Creation which he has continued to explore in his colorful and expressive oil and acrylic landscape paintings. Rick is a national award-winning artist in plein air competitions around the West, and in exhibitions across the United States, including the California Art Club’s Gold Medal show.
My studio is located in San Clemente, about 20 minutes away from where I set up my kit to paint these beautiful sycamore trees, in January at Casper’s Wilderness Park. The creek in the distance is San Juan Creek, that flows through San Juan Capistrano on its way to the ocean. The beauty of the forms of the trees can best be seen in winter, when all their golden leaves are on the ground. Form, light and beauty were my focus in this work.
